TAONGA TĀNE
Taonga Tāne celebrates the strength, leadership, resilience, and mana of tāne Māori.
This artwork acknowledges the many roles tāne hold throughout their lives - as fathers, sons, brothers, uncles, leaders, protectors, providers, and kaitiaki of their whānau and communities. It honours the generations of tāne who have carried the responsibility of protecting, guiding, and supporting those around them while remaining grounded in their whakapapa and cultural identity.
At its heart, this piece recognises tāne as taonga - precious, valued, and deserving of respect. It celebrates the qualities that define strong tāne: courage, humility, integrity, perseverance, and the willingness to serve others before themselves.
