MANGŌPARE
The mangōpare (hammerhead shark) is a powerful symbol of strength, resilience, determination, and leadership. Renowned for its ability to navigate the ocean with confidence and purpose, it represents the courage to overcome challenges and the perseverance to keep moving forward no matter the obstacles.
Traditional koru patterns are woven throughout the artwork, symbolising growth, endurance, and the strength gained through life's challenges. Like the mangōpare itself, these elements reflect resilience, adaptability, and the determination to continue moving forward despite adversity.
As the first guardian in the Ngā Kaitiaki o te Taiao series, Mangōpare sets the foundation for a collection that celebrates the taonga of Aotearoa and the values they inspire within us.
