Stretching from Wairoa to Wairarapa, Ngāti Kahungunu is renowned for its rich history, strong leadership, and deep connection to whenua, moana, and whānau. This design acknowledges the generations of tūpuna whose strength, wisdom, and resilience continue to guide and inspire their descendants today.
The tohu woven throughout the artwork reflect whakapapa, mana, kaitiakitanga, and whanaungatanga, recognising the values that have sustained Ngāti Kahungunu across generations.
